The Department of Economics as a structural subdivision of Mogilev branch BIP was established in 2002. Over a 16-year period of activity the Department of Economics has trained 1220 specialists. The Department of Economics ensures the implementation of the educational program of the I stage of higher education and is a graduating department for the specialties 1-25 01 07 «Economics and management at the enterprise» specialization «Economics and legal support of economic activity», as well as for 1-24 01 02 «Jurisprudence» and 1-24 01 01 «International Law».

The teaching staff of the department actively participates in international and republican conferences, seminars, symposia. It pays special attention to the improvement of educational technologies based on innovative methods and information technologies of distance learning. To improve the level of practical training of students, the department develops long-term cooperation with other educational institutions, government agencies, leading organizations and enterprises of the region, on the basis of which a variety of educational and practical activities are developed.

The main attention is being paid to the development of a non-standard, innovative style of thinking, the abilityto students to make decisions and generalize facts with the presentation of reasonable conclusions. On the basis of the Department, two joint branches were opened: the first with CJSC Mogilev Sewing Firm «Vyasnyanka» and the second – with JSC «Mogilev Plant «Strommashina». A demand for our graduates in labor market is explainable due to the specificity of their specialization, namely: the combination of economic and legal knowledge. Our graduates have an opportunity to continue higher education signing up for the Master's Degree program. The department is working on the implementation of a retraining program for executives and specialists with higher education providing additional education for adults.
